Can I get a surfboard

With two days left in paradise we decided to opt out the jungle safari and just chill on and around the beaches of Dikwella.

We returned to turtle bay for an amazing morning spent swimming with turtles. The waves gone, the boys spent hours and hours in and out the water watching these beautiful creatures of the sea.

It was good to see the local restaurant huts protecting them by making sure tourists don’t touch them or surround them too closely. The boys were so well behaved, respecting and enjoying nature. I was very proud of them.

Food from a hut was simple but delicious (especially the eggs)… they even remembered not to add sugar to my mojito 😂

Feeling restless and full of energy I decided to go for a very peaceful swim across the bay. On the way I saw parrot fish, trigger fish, more turtles and numerous fish I don’t know the names off.

As I exited the water I saw a relived hubby walking towards me. He had lost sight of me during my swim 🤦‍♀️.

All a bit pink we headed back to our accommodation to reset until the evening. At least that was the plan. The boys however wanted more beach time while I did another workout and enjoyed coffee with a view.

For that evening and out last day we headed to Dikwellas main beach, which had a much more trendy vibe. With curling waves enticing young backpackers in bikini and surf shorts.

Here I did start to feel more self conscious and anxious but with support from husband mange to relax and enjoy being on the beach.

Highlights for the boys were another night swim…

And surfing! Middle man pushed to hire a surfboard and despite having to be reminded he had a broken toe, we agreed on body boards. I don’t know where he gets his refusal to sit still and reckless side from 🫣.

The final evening in Dikwella was spent again on the beach watching the sunset, this time all of enjoyed a swim!

The final stretch was the return to the airport with a last stop at Galle.

Sri Lanka you have been amazing! Amazing family time, amazing scenery, amazing confidence booster, amazing place to relax and reset and amazing nature. With a grateful heart we depart but I’m pretty sure we will be back!
