We were staying at one of the few places still open in the area Rice View Villa. If you also happen to be in China (which is becoming increasingly unlikely) and are in the area please do consider staying here. Like many places that rely of tourism they are struggling to survive under the current covid situations. When we left they told us we might be the last visitors for the year and may have to close until travel became easier again 😦

Rice View Villa turned out to be perfect place to start many of the hikes in the area. Mr Lee was super helpful, explaining the 3 or 4 hour route to a popular scenic spot. “Follow the signs in the village… and when your not… take the most trodden path”. Much to the boys relief he also helped organise a car to bring us back!

Now the walk was stunning!

But the most trodden path was not always so clear 😂

But we made it and had a most amazing family time .

In total it took us 5 hours, we arrived in stunning tourist spot where unfortunately 90% of the businesses were shut. We were the only ones in the restaurant to enjoy a local dinner.

Not a bad first day!
Not bad indeed! Must be a strange experience with there being so few tourists around – rather nice, except for so many places being shut. Fascinating landscape! You’ve really got off the beaten track! I didn’t see a lot of that rural side of China, except from the train. Keep ‘em coming! xxxxx
