So Whale sharks! check! 🙂
But we still have a few days left in Mozambique so make the most of beach life. I love the sea! One day I will live next to it!
We have an enjoyable day doing the “pansy tour”. Which started with lift in the back of a pick up (probably middle mans highlight), followed by a trip on a traditional sail boat to a sandbar to look for pansy shells. It was great to see my big boy so at home snorkeling. A water baby like his Mum!
The younger two ran around collecting as many of the pansy shells as they could.
Back on the boat Baby Blue demands a feed. Feeding on a sailboat that was pitched at what felt like 45degrees was interesting to say the least, and then switching side every time the boat need to tack made feeding a proper workout. By the time we reached the next island though he was fast asleep and transferred to the trusty manduca.
Here we were to have traditional lunch in a local village. We served a selection of dishes some of which were recognisable and some not. Most were delicious and with abit of encouragement even the boys enjoyed some of the more exotic dishes.
Dessert was a more challenging affair as it was at the top of a palm tree! Our guide showed us what to do and I giggled watching the husband fail miserably. I didnt even attempt it knowing my limits when it comes to heights. Lego boy got scared a few meters up (takes after his mummy) but middle man would probably have made it to the top of the surprised guide hadn’t shot up after him.
Once he safely returned middle man to the ground he climbed up again telling us to stand back. Soon 2 coconuts hit the sand with an almighty whack. You wouldn’t want one of those landing on you. Challenge 2 was to open them. The guide handed husband a machete to open it! I have flash backs to my late teens when the husband ( then boyfriend) last tried to open his own coconut in Daintree (Northern Queensland). And like back then he failed and I giggled.
But then he he passed the machete to Lego Boy. We discussed many parenting ideals when I was pregnant with him but… What age is shall we let our child use machete did not come up? Despite the Mum in my head shouting “NO!!!!!!!!!!!! HE WILL HURT HIMSELF!!!!” I do believe children should have opportunity to use “dangerous” items under the right conditions. So I let him try with his dad under very close supervision. Thankfully with all fingers still intact and some help fro the guide they finally managed to open the coconut.

Our accommodation was to hold New Year’s Eve music festival. The closer new year got the busier it got. The stage was assembled, and speakers and lights installed all over the place. It looked like it was going to be a big party and it was.
New Year’s Eve afternoon the music started, early on my boys were the only ones dancing on the sand but as day turned tonight the party really kicked in. My little ravers loved it! At about 9 when baby blue was falling asleep on the dance floor we decided to turn in. Despite the noise all the boys fell to sleep instantly! Worn out from there first beach party!

Tomorrow early we start the return trip back. Can we make the capital in one day?

Coming thick and fast now! That must have been an amazing trip. Loved the photos too. Thanks Annie. xxxxx
