This is where dinosaurs live!

Tent down quicker this time and we hit the road. First stop is Rundu where we found a Toyota garage! 10mins later we managed to get a parking spot and Husband jumped out to investigate.

Soon enough the car was up in the air on a proper lift. We could see the temporary wire solution had gone (explaining why the bang had returned).

But after much waiting around it appeared they didn’t have the part, 😦 they did however give us a number to ring so we could order it into windhoek in time for us to get there. We also got a quote to fix the AC which had packed in the moment we hit Namibia. It was ridiculous…  So we will be travelling the rest of this mainly dessert country with no AC!

As we were leaving town Lego Boy who had a bit of a dodgy stomach announced he needed the toilet!  We pulled up outside a shopping complex quickly unloaded and headed to a KFC toilet just in time. On return to the car something wasn’t right. The key wouldn’t fit in the lock, the clicker seemed to lock rather than unlock the car. Sure enough it became apparent when I opened Baby Blues door that we had been broken into. Our passports (luckily) had been dumped in his seat. A quick scan and we could tell one bag had been taken 😦

We spent the rest of the journey was spent trying to work out what was in the stolen bag. Most was replaceable, cameras (luckily no photos on them yet), chargers, binoculars, shaver but my wallet with a picture of my Pompa in was gone! I had carried the picture for almost 20 years and am gutted its gone.

When we arrived at Roys Rest Camp the boys let off steam in the pool whilst I cancelled cards.

The next day we explored Grootfontien, (replacing the binoculars ready for Etosha) and a meteorite. The boys were surprisingly interested but the biting ants which were everywhere made viewing it quite painful! Middle Man announces ‘This is where dinosaurs live mummy’ He was right the whole place did look very Jurassic.

  2. Have just read this blog – so sorry to hear about the car getting broken into, how rotten! must have been very upsetting, especially losing Pompa’s photo and what a bind having to cancel your cards. Must have put a bit of a damper on things for a time. Good to see you on Skype today – looking great! ( if a bit pixelated!) Had a great weekend with J, J and N. J staying on another couple of days, stripping off wood chip and stuff with your Dad at Keddie Road. Lots of love, Nan xxxxx P.S. Did you see any dinosaurs??!
