It will be ready at…

With Nannie back in England it was the first time in a couple of months that it was just our family of 5! Husband had few days off and we wanted to make the most of it!

We went on another drive round the local park and saw loads! (Sorry Nannie!) We saw Zebra, Giraffe, Puku, Impala, Antelope and loads of different birds. Middle man ever the comedian also kept pointing out sticks.

As the boys wanted to try fishing we headed to the waterfall where they basically fed the fish ham and apples, never the less it was a great afternoon.

On our return husband noticed the beast had a funny rattle, so decided it for a check-up… we also needed its handbrake fixing. He dropped it off at 10 with a promise that it would be ready by 12… At 1pm he popped back and found they hadn’t started, it would be ready at 6pm. Surprising it wasn’t…but he was told the hand break was fixed and the rattle (which turned out to be the bushes??) would be ready first thing tomorrow. We finally we got the car back at 5pm the next day with the rattle fixed but still no handbrake. This is a typical story of getting things sorted out here! Back in England you would go probably go nuts, but here it’s just the way it is. We weren’t being deceived but instead protected from the truth. The garage is so eager to please that they say anything to keep you happy! They are completely trust worthy as proven by the fact husband left a laptop in the car (rookie mistake), and on his return it had been locked in the office for safe keeping.

This time waiting for the car was not wasted however as we spent time with local family’s on the estate. We went to a local club which had a swimming pool where the boys can touch the floor. It has amazing views, if my dad comes to visit I don’t think he will ever leave.

That evening was a chance to meet more from the local community as we met up for pizzas on the school fields. The boys enjoyed decorating their own pizzas which then were baked within a pizza oven made inside an ant hill. The boys loved the freedom of playing with the other kids. We hadn’t seen Middle Man for a bit so I wandered out into the dark looking for him when I literally fell over him! They are playing hide and seek, and he was hiding by lying in the middle of the dark field. Quite clever but not the best hiding place, I got the scare of my life whilst popping back in the car when the face a little girl appeared in my rear view mirror!

We are all starting to make friends, especially the boys who are playing in and out most days with kids that will be at their school! Which starts in 3 days?! Just time for a trip to a chimpanzee sanctuary and a bigger town to get Lego boy a birthday present! Apparently it’s down the worst road in Zambia.

There is a problem with your posts.. they’ve made me realise it’s about 3 years since I was in Africa and you’re making me miss it badly… When does the rainy season finish..?! Loads of love J. xxx
