Peru has been on my list for decades, longer than I can remember but our first stop Lima past in a fog or jet lag and a literal fog!

After visiting two very different and amazing cities, any city was gonna struggle to capture us. Lima old city main attractions listed did not inspire the boys (churches, squares, colonial architecture) so instead we hung out in Minaflores. The more modern part of the city and the safest. Despite the fog and the jet lag we did enjoy a few days recouping, eating comfort food, watching England matches, and stocking up on warmer wear.

The southern hemisphere winter was a little bit of a shock after the heat of Europe. Although the days did reach around 20 the boys Thai pants were not gonna be sufficient as we travelled into altitude. (I did tell everyone they need to pack warmer clothes but it appears no one believed me 😂, I suppose I do have a habit of being cold when they are not.
For me the highlight was the pebble beach. No matter how cold there is always a draw to go paddling! It certainly wasn’t the most picturesque beach we have visited… with the busy road and fog but we happily spent a good few hours collecting rocks, listening to the waves, watching surfers skimming rocks and paddlingin the shallows.

Feeling the water lapping my feet and a peaceful few moments allowed me to ground myself and really take in the fact we are in Peru! Tomorrow we join a hop on and off bus down the coast. Let the adventures begin!
