A day on the beach was calling! So after looking at the surf forcast and still being non the clearer we decided to head to Chonglang beach. Which we stayed at last time.

We knew it to have good surf as it had a slower decline into the sea. Also it was more sheltered, so hopefully less windy. I wasn’t keen to be sand blistered all day. And China for all it’s amazing ability of production… doesn’t seem to know what a wind break is.
The target beach was 40 mins away but It did not let us down. Yes it was busy… as all places are but we found our spot no problem. Picked a place in front of a bright pink building (next to the building with a Christmas tree on the sand?!?) so the kids could locate it easy. We hired a surf board, slapped on sun cream and had a fantastic day. The rule was swim in front of the pink building, don’t swim alone and never past your waist without an adult.

Most of us had a go on the board. I taught the little ones a few tricks and even had a few rides and spectacular wipeouts myself.

We only left the beach for a quick bite to eat (and a baileys coffee) and escape the sun for an hour. When the sun set all of all of us were exhausted but happy.

In the evening the street behind the beach became alive with fish restaurants. We ordered a massive platter including lobster, clams, mussels, prawns, crabs and all sorts of other fish on sticks. Whilst we ate the craziness of Chinese street life passed us by. Ez even got a photo with iron man!?
