How long now?

The count down to the grandparents arrival was most definitely on! 4 days, we are meeting them in Bali.

Day 1 was spent chilling in our latest accommodation, a beach side resort with average reviews turned out to be one of the friendly places we stayed. The staff who although had a less than efficient concept of time we so good with the boys, they spent hours playing football, talking to them, walking on the beach etc. Husband and I took it in turns to nap and recoup (travelling is amazing and I love it, but it’s not always straight forward and it’s actually very tiring)

Day 2 was another trip highlight… having promised ourselves a dive, we found out the only way to do so with the boys was to charter another boat (for the day). The owners of the resort (a Dutch/ German) couple took us out with their 14 year old son (the designated childminder) to a couple of beautiful beaches north of the park.

Lego boy did a bubble maker drift dive along the top of the reef while husband I dropped down to about 20m for a very peaceful drift dive. Abundant with life we saw turtles, massive murry eels, bat fish, and plate coral out of this world. After lunch and a play on the beach (the boys highlight was being towed back to the big boat) husband and I dived again. The second dive was if possible even better, with again stunning coral teeming with life, topped off with white tip sharks and a manta ray.

Did I mention this year we are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary? I think it’s safe to say we are celebrating in style!

Day 3 was a travel day (all be it with a very relaxed start) we arrived at our accommodation in Bali past 11 in the evening after a smooth enough but delayed flight.

Day 4! Grandparents day! They were due to arrive early evening but from the second they woke up the constant mantra of “how long now?” started. We spent the day building huts and sand castles on the black sand beach.

At about the time the grandparents were due we headed back to the accommodation to wait. Lego boy went and sat at the end of the lane showing peiatance I never knew he had. While The mantra of the other two increased in intensity until roughly an hour later we heard the sequels of delight from Lego boys “Their here, their here, their here”. Two rather jet lagged looking grandparents were enveloped in hugs and chatter from all three boys.

After the compulsory boys guided tour of the accommodation we all headed to the beach for some dinner.

Both middle man and Boy Blue obviously worn out from the days excitement fell asleep before the food had arrived, so the start of our 3 generation travels began with the eldest carrying the youngest home.
