I wake early to the beep of my phone! Usually I turn it to silent because of the time difference between us and loved ones messages come at all times of day. But last night I left it on on purpose!
One of my Zambian tribe had gone into labour! Although now our lives run along in different countries I am super excited about their new arrival! The beep is the happy news I was hoping for! The safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy!
This is one of the hardest things about being an expat, you miss a lot of the big stuff, be it friends or family from our original home in the uk or those we have picked up on our expat journey there are somethings you would love to be around for but just can’t be. We have missed weddings, funerals, christenings and births. Despite the distance we always raise a glass and are their in spirit.
And this was no different, my Zambian tribe was made up of 3 amazingly strong, inspiring women who are currently are spread around the world. Obviously we couldn’t be there in person but we were all definitely there in spirit. Our little WhatsApp group that was started to organise coffees and gym meets during our time in Zambia became an old excited and down right hilarious babble as we all waited in anticipation!

I can not wait to meet the new arrival, I don’t know when but I have faith we will! There are now a few little people around the world who I eagerly wait to meet in person.
But for now we are on the tropical island of Ko Chang and yes it’s still raining. I fall back to sleep happy with the noise of the rain thundering on the roof.
A couple of hours later the boys wake me and thankfully the rain has stopped. We have a super tasty breakfast of fruits, yogurts and smoothies, and the plan for the rest of the day…. not a lot! A wander into the village maybe, time on the beach hopefully and a few drinks to celebrate the new arrival definitely!

In fact the next 4 days were spent relaxing and enjoying Ko Chang. We stayed at Indie beach which was perfect with its laid back family feel. The room was spacious and comfy, the bar served delicious cocktails and tasty food! Did I mention the breakfasts?! Yummy.

We did explore a little, taking a walk to a waterfall and swim in a river but most of the time was spent relaxing and playing on the beach.

Next stop Cambodia but first we had to get there…and that meant a border crossing.
