It’s time to go to the beach… so guess what … it’s raining! Whenever we head to a tropical island it rains! Top tip for a beach holiday don’t go with us.
Oh well we will enjoy it either way but before that we have a long journey. We have booked a private taxi to take us door to door. I remember back in our backpacking days scoffing at private transfers thinking they are a waste of money … ha … now with 3 kids in tow it actually not much more an totally worth the extra few dollars so the kids can stop for wee breaks whenever they need.
The journey could take between 5 and 8 hours depending on traffic and ferry ques. Kindles charged and snacks packed we set off.
The first 5 hours to the ferry were pretty uneventful. Well apart from our driver choking on a chicken bone. He was very apologetic the whole time and ended up vomit roadside. After a few stops he managed to dislodge the obstruction and the colour returned to his face. Relived I didn’t need to use my cpr training we arrived at the ferry port.

The ferry it’s self was as expected a rusty, steel, clanking, purely functional piece of macheniary that spent its days going backwards and forwards. Given that it was still raining the sea was calm. the boys enjoyed the 45 mins free of the car play fighting and scaring mummy with their climbing.

Once on Ko Chang it was another hour of winding over the island, up and down ridiculously steep turns to our accommodation.

Before we have even put our bags down the boys are in the sea fully dressed! The boys run around on the rain, building tanks, collecting shells and wearing off the energy while we sit dry under the veranda drinking cocktails.
