Mamingos mummy!

On the drive back from sandboarding Lego Boy pipes up ‘Mamingos mummy’! Sure enough there along the sea edge were a hundred or so pink flamingos. Since Etosha Lego Boy has wanted to take his own photos of the animals we see. This is something we want to encourage (who knows he may be a budding photographer one day?) so we pull over. He asks if he can take a picture of Husband and I. As it turns out this is the only picture of just us two from the whole trip.

I’m a little bit obsessed with giraffe, and have always wanted a large carving of one taller than me! We saw one in a little craft shop which I really liked it was multi colored, different from the usual carvings you see everywhere. The logical side of me left it in the shop though. The beast was already rammed full and we are still driving with broken rear dampeners.

On the way back to the beast Lego Boy wants to run along the palm lined sea wall whilst Middle Man is desperate to pretend to be a digger  on the beach… so we split up and agree to meet up at the car. Thirty mins later I’m sat on the sand by the car watching Middle Man shifting sand from one pile to another when 3 figures appear in the distance, holding in one hand Husband has the hand of skipping Lego Boy and in the other a bubble wrapped sculpture! “Merry Christmas babe! Dont worry we will find away to fit it in” he says as he hands me the sculpture :).  . Luckily for me husband isn’t as logical as me and I now the proud owner the multi-colored giraffe taller than me (if we can get it home).

We spent our last evening in Swakopmund watching the sun set over the sea eating prawn pasta. The prawns were bought from the food lovers market, I am quite ashamed at how excited I got picking delicious food from that beautifully presented store.

Tomorrow we would be heading to Windhoek the capital of Namibia. All the African capitals I have visited have been hectic and fascinating but exhausting, wonder what Windhoek will be like?
