Husband has been in Zambia for about a month. We are all ready to see Daddy now! So begun the task of organisation getting us there!
First mission was flights! After my husband flew north to go south I was keen to make sure our route was a straight forward as possible. A bit of searching we decided on going via Dubai! It breaks up the flight and has a play area! My life saving mother-in-law is flying out with me and the boys! After a few seating hiccups we are all now booked on the same flights next to each other and baby blue has a sky cot! So looks like it is going to be 26ish hours door to door!
Next mission packing! Packing for lego boy, middle man, baby blue and I is a daunting task.
Lego boy’s priorities on what to pack are some what strange! One breakfast in a very serious voice he asked ‘Can I take my marigold?’ He also has a mountain of Lego which I dare not leave behind! Middle man will be happy as long as he has a toy crane and his bike! Luckily the bike doesn’t weigh much but not sure how it will fit in a bag! Baby blue seems to need a lot for a little man! But as long as his milk supply continues to be close by he will survive!
Hopefully there will be some weight limit left for a few items of clothes for me and the two bottles of rum husband has requested!!!!
After what seems like forever all the items for shipping are packed in a create ready for collection! My father in law stood on top of the crate to squash down the contents so the lid would fit! You could not fit another lego block in! If customs decide to open it I think it will pop open like a gaint Lego jack in a box!
Some how I now needed to fit all our clothes, toys, a pram, a balance bike, 3 car seats, a baby carrier, and a bouncer into our weight limit! Not forgetting husbands rum!

Well done you! Not easy to pack your life into a box and send it off into the blue! Your Mum tells me she has spoken to you since your arrival and all went reasonably smoothly with your journey. So glad to know you are all now safely installed in your Zambian home. Next step is getting Lego boy and Middle man launched into school, I guess. Hope that goes well too and you can start being a lady of (semi) leisure?
J J and J all took N up to Durham at the weekend to start her big adventure too. She was excited – but pretty nervous, which is only to be expected. J and J back here now and go home today. They join me in sending lots and lots of love to you all. Shall look forward eagerly to your next epistle, Nan. xxxx P.S. Did he take his marigold? – What IS his marigold?
